The year is here!

We’ve got a fantastic year ahead of us as we mark our 100th anniversary – and here’s some of the things that you’ll be seeing and hearing about over the next twelve months.

It all began in London so it was apt that we attended the Lord Mayor of London’s Show in November with a wonderful parade that featured a replica of one of our early horse-drawn ambulances alongside our latest PetCheck vehicle, kindly donated by Robert Breckman in memory of his wife Julie.

Our largest ever PDSA contingent paid their respects to the fallen at the Remembrance Day parade with 36 people in attendance. Meanwhile Founder’s Day on 17 November is being celebrated with activities happening at our offices, shops and Pet Hospitals across the UK. Throughout the year many of our Pet Hospitals will be throwing open their doors to the general public with a series of open days.

We’ve launched our eBooklet featuring 100 Ways to encourage people to raise funds and awareness and are busy with plans for our big family-friendly event next May, called PetLife '18.

We’ll also usher in a new era in our veterinary care with the appeal to build our first dedicated Pet Wellbeing Centre in Manchester. You’ll be hearing more about the appeal in the New Year. There’s plenty to look forward to and ways to get involved so keep a look out for more news soon.

Our Centenary is a fabulous opportunity to raise income and awareness and we’d love all our PDSA News readers to get involved. We've published an eBooklet giving ideas, hints and tips on raising awareness and funds.

It’s been created using your ideas and we'd like all employees, volunteers and supporters to use it with the aim of raising £100 or more  during our Centenary year (this equates to £8.33 a month or just 27 pence a day!).

This could be money you raise yourself; together with friends and family or within your community. If everyone got involved we could raise as much as half a million pounds.

We’ll be sharing regular updates on how much we've raised and will keep you inspired with examples of people's fundraising activities in future issues of PDSA News.
